Pillars of Faith
History

Spiritually

"And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations."
Ezekiel 36:26-27
"God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs."
Matthew 5:3

Mentally

"Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do."
Joshua 1:8
"When Jesus heard this, he said, 'Healthy people don't need a doctor—sick people do.'"
Matthew 9:12

Socially

"Don't seek revenge or carry a grudge against any of your people. 'Love your neighbor as yourself. I am God.'"
Leviticus 19:18
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Acts of the Apostles 1:8

Academically

"These are the commands, decrees, and regulations that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you. You must obey them in the land you are about to enter and occupy."
Deuteronomy 6:1
"Three days later they finally discovered him in the Temple, sitting among the religious teachers, listening to them and asking questions."
Luke 2:46
"Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher."
Luke 6:40

Emotionally

"But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands."
Exodus 20:6
"Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.'"
Matthew 11:28

Financially

"The Lord will send rain at the proper time from his rich treasury in the heavens and will bless all the work you do. You will lend to many nations, but you will never need to borrow from them."
Deuteronomy 28:12
"Now here's a surprise: The master praised the crooked manager! And why? Because he knew how to look after himself. Streetwise people are smarter in this regard than law-abiding citizens. They are on constant alert, looking for angles, surviving by their wits. I want you to be smart in the same way—but for what is right—using every adversity to stimulate you to creative survival, to concentrate your attention on the bare essentials, so you'll live, really live, and not complacently just get by on good behavior."
Luke 16:8-9

Physically

"You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him."
Deuteronomy 13:4
"Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.'"
Matthew 16:24
"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Mark 10:45

Founder & Visionary

Jenson "Fig" Newton, Founder and Head of Empigo Academy, launched the concept of a private Christian career tech and entrepreneurial educational model school in 2023. Inspired to provide a unique educational structure for high school students, the journey began. He was inspired to launch the school when he served as a de facto dean of students at a private Christian school that offered only a traditional education model.

Seeing that students needed more educational options, he took the leap of faith. He and his wife, Shawnda, have been working in ministry in the Des Moines community since 2017. He has led an urban sports camp, where he directed the high school Leadership Development arm. They have led several community outreach initiatives and ministry start-ups and felt this was the next stage.

Fig graduated from Simpson College with a bachelor's in business management and worked in corporate development and entrepreneurship. He is currently enrolled in Liberty University, pursuing his Master of Education, graduating in 2025. He will then continue to obtain his Ph.D. in Education.

Fig lives by the teaching of Jesus: "Seek first the kingdom of God, and all of his righteousness, and all things will be added to you" and is motivated to obey the Great Commission of "go therefore make disciples of all nations."
